Christian Youth Ministry

Ministry Name

The name of the ministry is the Christian Youth Ministry (CYM) of the Uniting Reformed Church in Southern Africa (URCSA).

CYM Foundation

The CYM is based on the Bible as the unfailing Word of God and the doctrine that the church confesses, as contained in the three formularies of unity, namely the Dutch Confession of Faith, the Heidelberg Catechism, the Doctrinal Rules of Dordt and also the Confession of Belhar (1986).

CYM Goals

The CYM as a service organisation of the Christian Education (CE) in the Uniting Reformed Church in Southern Africa aims to form the church youth to become spiritual adult members of the body of Christ, who are competent in the doctrine, active in the mission, service and sacrifice.

In order to achieve this goal every member of the organisation aims to:

• live in compliance with the will of God according to the Holy Scripture;
• be a true witness for Christ and never to be ashamed of the gospel of Christ;
• go out into the practical life and tell the world that Christ can and will liberate her from sin, suffering and oppression;
• remain faithful to the doctrine of the URCSA which every member must confess and regularly attend the gatherings of the church, the church services and prayer meetings;
• regularly attend the meetings of the organisation and faithfully attend to the responsibilities and activities that arise from his/her membership of the CYM;
• Preserve and conserve the environment, which is God's creation.

CYM MYT

The Christian Youth Ministry of Melodi ya Tshwane is a youth ministry within the congregation of Uniting Reformed Church in Southern African Melodi ya Tshwane, under Tshwane Presbytery, Sub-region Gauteng and the Northern Synod.

Executive Committe

CYM MYT has been active for the past years, for the financial year 2023/24 the following members were elected to office.

CYM Ministry Logo

Over the past year the theme of the ministry was "United in diversity we stand" as the ministry consist of young vibrant people coming from different cultural groups, which brought unity within the ministry through embracing the diversity amongst ourselves as the youth of Christ and His church. This year the theme of the ministry is "United and Rooted in Christ" embraced by our ministry logo.

When you look at the logo you see two impersonated images in different colours joined to each other by a cross in the middle, it is through Christ Jesus that we meet as young people from of four hemispheres of South Africa and throw His word we have united to serve Him, His Church and His Kingdom.
